39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”
40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days.
41 And because of his words many more became believers.
42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

Reflections on John 4:42
In the transformative encounter at the well, the Samaritans believed in Jesus due to the woman’s powerful testimony. Yet, their faith deepened when they spent time with Jesus, hearing His words directly. This experience led them to declare, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world” (John 4:42).
If you find inspiration in the belief that grows through personal experience, you may resonate with the call to “Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it” (Ezra 10:4). The Lord’s promise to keep you from all harm and watch over your life is a comforting assurance found in Psalm 121:7-8.
Daily Prayer
Heavenly Father, inspired by the Samaritans’ profound realization in John 4:42, we seek a personal encounter with You. May our belief be grounded in experiencing Your love and transformative power.
Grant us courage, echoing Ezra 10:4, “Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.” May we trust in Your guidance and the support of those around us.
In the assurance of Psalm 121:7-8, we find comfort—knowing You keep us from harm and watch over our lives. May this knowledge bring peace as we move forward.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
